Background
Ecuador was one of the countries with the fastest growing contagion of COVID-19 in the region.
The need to reactivate the economy after several months of confinement forced the authorities to look for new alternatives for the effective management of the contagion, avoiding a new wave of cases. The Contact Tracing APP ASÍ was developed for this in conjunction with IDB LAB, providing a state-of-the-art solution to the Ecuadorian authorities.
The solution allowed them to manage triage effectively, automatically and with privacy. Contact tracing is the technology that was used worldwide to effectively manage the spread of COVID-19.
Using Bluetooth technology and respecting the privacy of users, having contact with a person who had COVID-19 was reported. Thanks to this technology, everyone at risk of contagion, due to exposure, are informed and can go into self-isolation, preventing a spread.
The APP avoids the manual processing of triage, generating contagion risk information effectively, while integrating the contagion verification protocols of the Ecuadorian health authorities.
